Project

Call 5 – Autonomous navigation

Keywords:

Autonomous navigation technique allows to determine the trajectory of a spacecraft avoiding big teams of expert operators, that continuously compute its trajectory and velocity. This technique requires an incredible amount of calculus hardly to compute directly onboard. GPU@SAT devkit is representative of the two future IngeniArs flight board. An autonomous navigation algorithm run on GPU@SAT can improve the localization of the EO satellites when belonging to a big constellation and/or unable to use the traditional GNNS systems.

In particular, recent developments ensure that autonomous navigation takes benefits from AI techniques. The aim of this sub-activity is to develop a fully autonomous navigation system supported by AI that runs on GPU@SAT, to determine speed and position of the spacecraft in quasi-real time.
